Dressage with Carlos Maldonado
Carlos Joined the Team at Varzea In April 2017 as assistant rider, soon taking position of Resident Rider here in August after displaying capacity and natural talent in the ability to show progression in his work with understanding our horses development. Carlos first put his feet in the saddle at the age of 3, where he was introduced to riding by his father and grandparents. This opportunity created his dream of wanting to become a professional rider. He competed in his first competition 12 years old in dressage and show jumping. Carlos has been receiving education and careful guidance from our external trainer Manuel Borba Veiga who collaborates with our project. Carlos has had the opportunity to learn from Manuel Veiga since his age of 18 years old and currently still receives weekly training from him here at Quinta Da Varzea.
Carlos has a kind and direct approach to his students helping the rider to gain confidence to help achieve the desired goals. Quinta da Varzea supports him on his journey into the equestrian competition world to represent the farm also within this area.
